Men’s Volleyball: Scholarship & Team Data by Division

n NCAA Division I, there are 25 teams with a total of 537 athletes, averaging 21.5 players per team. The current scholarship limit is 4.5, but starting in 2025–26 it will increase to 18, with an 18-player roster cap. Scholarships are awarded on an equivalency basis.

In NCAA Division II, there are 37 teams with 730 athletes, averaging 19.7 players per team. The scholarship limit remains at 4.5, with no roster cap. This division also follows the equivalency scholarship model.

In NCAA Division III, there are 120 teams with 1,954 athletes, averaging 16.3 players per team. There are no athletic scholarships or roster limits in this division.

In the NAIA, there are 61 teams with 510 athletes, averaging 15 players per team. The scholarship limit is 8, and it stays at 8 for 2025–26. Scholarships are also given on an equivalency basis.


Women’s Volleyball: Scholarship & Team Data by Division

In NCAA Division I, there are about 334 teams with roughly 5,406 athletes, averaging around 16 players per team. The scholarship model is headcount, with a limit of 12 scholarships. There is no roster limit and no changes planned for 2025–26.

In NCAA Division II, there are about 293 teams with approximately 4,861 athletes, also averaging around 16 players per team. The current scholarship limit is 8, following the equivalency model. There is no roster limit and no changes scheduled for 2025–26.

In NCAA Division III, there are about 437 teams with around 6,971 athletes, averaging 16 players per team. This division does not provide athletic scholarships, and there are no roster limits.

In the NAIA, there are about 220 teams with roughly 3,859 athletes, averaging 18 players per team. The scholarship limit is 8, based on the equivalency model, and no changes are expected for 2025–26.

In JUCO (Junior College), there are around 313 teams with approximately 3,921 athletes, averaging 13 players per team. JUCO programs do not have athletic scholarships for this sport, and scholarships are not applied.
