

Men’s Swimming: Scholarship & Team Data by Division
In NCAA Division I, there are 130 teams with a total of 3,790 athletes, averaging 29.2 players per team. The current scholarship limit is 9.9, which will increase to 30 in 2025–26, along with a roster cap of 30. Scholarships are awarded on an equivalency basis.
In NCAA Division II, there are 81 teams with 1,832 athletes, averaging 22.6 players per team. The scholarship limit is 8.1 and will remain the same in 2025–26, with no roster cap. Scholarships follow the equivalency model.
In NCAA Division III, there are 237 teams with 4,350 athletes, averaging 18.4 players per team. This division does not provide athletic scholarships and has no roster restrictions.
In the NAIA, there are 39 teams with 310 athletes, averaging 11 players per team. The scholarship limit is 8, which remains the same in 2025–26, awarded on an equivalency basis.
In the NJCAA, there are 15 teams with 154 athletes, averaging 13 players per team. The scholarship limit is 15, unchanged for 2025–26, under the equivalency model.
In the CCCAA, there are 47 teams with 703 athletes, averaging 15 players per team. This division does not provide athletic scholarships and has no roster limits.


Women’s Swimming: Scholarship & Team Data by Division
In NCAA Division I, there are 191 teams with a total of 5,874 athletes, averaging 30.8 players per team. Beginning in 2025–26, rosters will be capped at 30. The current scholarship limit is 14, which will increase to 30, awarded on an equivalency basis.
In NCAA Division II, there are 105 teams with 2,233 athletes, averaging 21.3 players per team. There is no roster cap, and the scholarship limit is 8.1, which remains the same in 2025–26.
In NCAA Division III, there are 258 teams with 4,945 athletes, averaging 19.2 players per team. This division does not provide athletic scholarships and has no roster restrictions.
In the NAIA, there are 41 teams with 350 athletes, averaging 11 players per team. The scholarship limit is 8, which stays the same in 2025–26.
In the NJCAA, there are 15 teams with 150 athletes, averaging 12 players per team. The scholarship limit is 15, which remains unchanged for 2025–26.
In the CCCAA, there are 56 teams with 745 athletes, averaging 14 players per team. This division does not provide athletic scholarships and has no roster limits.
